Jalen Williams, an All-Star forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, will miss Wednesday’s game against the Boston Celtics because of a strained hip. Williams was hurt when Nuggets player Peyton Watson landed on him halfway through the second quarter of Monday’s defeat.
Williams, who finished with 12 points in 14 minutes and was called out at halfway, played for another 57 seconds before checking out and going to the locker room.
Williams, who was named a first-time All-Star, came into the game averaging 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.7 steals for the Thunder, who were leading the Western Conference.
Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis were labeled as questionable and doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the Thunder, respectively, by the Eastern Conference-leading Celtics.
Porzingis has not played since February 26 as he recovers from what he described as a “viral sickness.” Jaylen Brown’s right knee tendinopathy is listed as probable, whereas Tatum’s is uncertain.
