If Daniel Farke can win promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United may make a surprise approach to re-sign Kalvin Phillips. Patrick Bamford has already been questioned about a return.
Although Kalvin Phillips left Leeds United to join Manchester City nearly three years ago, the Euro 2020 finalist has only made 60 appearances for City, West Ham, and Ipswich Town during that time.
He is still on loan at Ipswich, under Kieran McKenna, who is probably going to be demoted along with the two other promoted teams. If Ipswich loses, Phillips will have to return to Man City come summertime.
There is minimal likelihood of a deal, even if Ipswich survives. Phillips was being scouted by Leeds, according to reports that surfaced on Monday. Phillips is reportedly hoping to return to Leeds in the summer.
This is not the first time Phillips has been linked to a return to Elland Road; last summer, there were rumors that he would return to his boyhood club, Leeds, but nothing came of it. According to TeamTalk, Phillips was on the verge of rejoining Leeds before joining Ipswich. In April 2024, actor and comedian Joe Wilkinson asked Bamford about those rumors: “There was talk of him coming back to Leeds. What do you think he needs at the moment?”
In response, Bamford said: “I believe Kalv went to City to train with elite players, which will raise your level. But training daily makes a significant difference. from playing a few minutes to playing one game after another.
