Parson’s rookie quarterback comment appears to be about Brock Purdy, an Iowa state product who is eligible for a contract extension and will become an unrestricted free agent after this season. Purdy currently makes $5.4 million, but he could make around $50 million once he signs an extension. Some have cited that upcoming contract as a reason the 49ers lost so many players because they no longer have the benefit of a cheap quarterback on a rookie contract.
