Sergio Perez FINALLY Signs with Aston Martin, Officially Ends Red Bull Chapter
Sergio Perez has officially inked a multi-year deal with Aston Martin, confirming his return to the Silverstone-based team beginning with the 2026 Formula 1 season. The move brings an end to months of speculation surrounding the Mexican driver’s future with Red Bull Racing, where he has competed since 2021.
After persistent rumors questioning whether Red Bull would retain Perez beyond 2025, Aston Martin has stepped in with a major statement of intent, reuniting with a driver who previously raced under their banner when the team competed as Racing Point.
Despite helping Red Bull secure Constructors’ Championship points and consistent podium finishes, Perez’s performances were frequently compared to teammate Max Verstappen, leading to uncertainty over his long-term role. Now, Aston Martin has secured an experienced and proven talent as it aims to evolve into a title-contending outfit in the upcoming regulation era.
“I’m thrilled to return to this team,” said Perez. “The vision and commitment at Aston Martin are impressive, and I believe we can build something very special together.”
Under the leadership of Mike Krack and with the backing of Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin has made significant strides on and off the track. The addition of Perez brings veteran experience and leadership to a team determined to fight at the front.
Perez’s signing opens the door for a new name at Red Bull in 2026, sparking intense speculation about who will partner Verstappen. With a growing pool of talent in Red Bull’s junior ranks and several top drivers potentially on the move, the dominoes in the F1 driver market may soon begin to fall.
