Good News: AC/DC Announces First Tour in Eight Years with New Bassist and Drummer……

After an eight-year hiatus from touring, legendary rock band AC/DC has announced their return to the stage with the ‘Power Up’ European Tour, set to commence in May 2024. This tour not only marks a significant comeback but also introduces a new member to the band’s lineup: bassist Chris Chaney, known for his work with Jane’s Addiction.

Tour Announcement and Dates

The ‘Power Up’ European Tour is scheduled to kick off on May 17, 2024, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, at the Veltins Arena. The tour will span several countries, including Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, England, Slovakia, Belgium, France, and Ireland, before concluding on August 17, 2024, in Dublin. Notably, the band will perform two shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 3 and July 7, 2024. Tickets for the tour went on sale on February 16, 2024.

Lineup Changes: Welcoming Chris Chaney

A significant change in the band’s lineup is the introduction of bassist Chris Chaney, who replaces longtime member Cliff Williams following his retirement. Chaney, 53, brings a wealth of experience to the group, having previously played with artists such as Alanis Morissette, Cher, Celine Dion, Joe Satriani, and Slash. His diverse background as a session musician and his tenure with Jane’s Addiction make him a versatile addition to AC/DC.

The Return of Brian Johnson

Frontman Brian Johnson’s return to the band is another highlight of this tour. Johnson had previously stepped away from performing in 2016 due to severe hearing issues that threatened his ability to continue touring. During his absence, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose stepped in to fulfill vocal duties for the remainder of that year’s tour dates. Johnson’s successful recovery and return to the stage were marked by a powerful performance at the Power Trip festival in California in October 2023, where the band headlined alongside other rock legends.

Drummer Matt Laug Joins the Fold

In addition to Chaney, drummer Matt Laug has joined AC/DC’s touring lineup, replacing Phil Rudd. Laug is an American drummer known for his work with artists like Alanis Morissette and Slash’s Snakepit. His addition to the band brings a fresh dynamic to their rhythm section.

Anticipation and Fan Reception

The announcement of the ‘Power Up’ Tour has been met with enthusiasm from fans worldwide. The tour not only celebrates AC/DC’s enduring legacy but also introduces new talent into the band’s storied history. With a mix of classic hits and new energy from the recent lineup changes, the ‘Power Up’ Tour promises to be a memorable chapter in AC/DC’s ongoing rock saga.

As the band prepares to hit the road, fans eagerly anticipate the electrifying performances that have become synonymous with AC/DC’s name. The combination of seasoned members and new additions sets the stage for a tour that honors the band’s rich history while embracing its evolving future.
