Cowboys Signing Pro Bowl Rumors Take a Negative Turn

FRISCO—Some people view it as a “position of need,” but there is no denying that the Dallas Cowboys have always valued assembling multiple bodies at the defensive end spot, dating back to the Super Bowl teams of the 1990s, when they had so much depth that, with Tony Tolbert and Charles Haley as starters, first-round veteran Jim Jeffcoat and Chad Hennings came off the bench as helpers. Ideally, this would continue today, with Micah Parsons at the top of the food chain, DeMarcus Lawrence eyeing free agency, and the largely untested duo of Sam Williams and Marshawn Kneeland as the better-to-be-ready youngsters.

The good news for the Cowboys, should they decide to expand their “selective aggressiveness” plan a bit, is that the NFL is playing Musical Chairs at this position, with a rare collection of talent available. Superstars Trey Hendrickson of the Bengals (via trade), Joey Bosa of the Chargers (via free agency), and Myles Garrett of the Browns (via trade) can be included in this conversation. And now there is another “name.” The Tennessee Titans released Pro Bowl edge rusher Harold Landry, making another veteran edge rusher available to needy teams everywhere.
