Only one of Juventus’ seven players who were sidelined for the match against Hellas Verona is expected to return against Atalanta, according to Tuttosport via Juventus
. Renato Veiga should recover from his muscular issue in time for Sunday’s straight matchup.
Due to Pierre Kalulu’s injury, the 21-year-old, who had joined the Bianconeri on loan from Chelsea in January, was immediately thrown into the starting lineup.
The Portuguese performed well in his place, forming a strong partnership with Federico Gatti that helped the team win four straight games in all competitions. However, he ultimately suffered an injury at the most inconvenient time: the pivotal second leg of the Champions League play-off round, which ended in a disappointing elimination at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.
Although Kalulu returned off the bench against Verona, it is now anticipated that Veiga will return to the team, which will be a significant boost for Thiago Motta, who at last has a functional defensive department at his disposal. Federico Gatti and Lloyd Kelly have been starting in recent games.
While Veiga is expected to receive a call-up, the same cannot be said for the other players who are not expected to play against Atalanta. Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal, and Arkadiusz Milik are still sidelined for the foreseeable future; the latter has been dealing with a knee injury since June, and the South American pair suffered ACL injuries early in the season and is unlikely to return before next season.
