The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders have been an integral part of the franchise since its inception in 1966. Originally known as the Dolphin Dolls, the squad consisted of 125 girls ranging from 8 to 18 years of age. In 1978, the professional group was formed under owner Joe Robbie and was initially known as the Starbrites, under a sponsorship with Starbrite Car Polish until 1983, when the sponsorship ended. The Dolphins then held a “Name the Cheerleaders” contest, resulting in the current name, the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders.

Throughout the years, the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders have evolved in both performance and community involvement. They perform a variety of dance routines at Hard Rock Stadium, the home stadium of the Dolphins, and release an annual swimsuit calendar. The squad hosts auditions every May and also has a youth cheer squad to mentor young girls in the Miami area. Additionally, they participate in USO trips to support troops overseas.
