One of the big names still awaiting a new contract is Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys. It is generally assumed that Jerry Jones and company will reach an agreement with him, but things may have become more challenging.
The Cleveland Browns locked up Myles Garrett to a shocking deal on Sunday. After making a highly publicized trade request, it appeared that Garrett’s time with the Browns was coming to an end. However, Garrett agreed to a huge four-year extension worth $160 million, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Parsons also became more expensive for the Cowboys after the big move between Garrett and the Browns.
In spite of how shocking the move was, it has been made. The Cowboys will now have to decide how to proceed in their own contract negotiations with Parsons; it will be interesting to see what comes out of the talks between Dallas and Parsons, but the Garrett deal is official, and players throughout the league will take notice and modify their contract demands accordingly. That was the response that the majority of NFL fans had throughout the league.
